The star of K-pop and cinema Park Yoochun was arrested on April 26, 2019 for drug trafficking. An arrest warrant against the 32-year-old singer was issued against him, with the Korean judiciary fearing a possible destruction of evidence and leaving the country, a spokesman for the Suwon court told Reuters.
Yoochun is believed to have bought 1.5 grams of methamphetamine with his former girlfriend a few months ago and to have used drugs several times. For its part, the star of the groups JVJ and TVXQ denies the facts, claiming to have never taken drugs. However, he announced he was stepping down from the entertainment industry as his contract with his label was broken a few days earlier after he tested positive for methamphetamine. "While we believed in the innocence of Park Yoochun and awaited further investigation, we learn the positive results of a drug test conducted as part of the official investigation. We are devastated to see the results of this test. We decided to end his contract because we feel he can no longer trust himC-Jes Entertainment said in a statement.
Park Yoochun was a boyband TVXQ member between 2003 and 2009 before leaving the band with two other members to form the JVJ band. Reuters also reports that the police have videos of the singer recovering drugs and giving money to a dealer, as well as photos showing needle and bruise marks on his arms.
